[alumNY News] Fundraising update & hackNight @ NYC Mesh
Fundraising Update
We’re thrilled to report our most successful fundraising campaign so far! Our goal was to increase our monthly donors and show that the alumNY community is engaged and values hackNY and its mission, and I’m proud to say that we increased our monthly donors from 2 at the start of last year to now 54!
All told, we raised over $61,000 from monthly and one-time donations from 70 different people, which are also records for hackNY.
And we’re not done yet — In building this culture of giving we recognize that fundraising is not something that just happens at the end of a year, it’s all year round. We plan to use this data and momentum to proudly show to donors and foundations that our community is thriving and worth investing in. If you haven’t yet donated, it’s never too late.
It’s extremely gratifying to see the generous support and enthusiasm from the community, hackNY only exists because of our alumNY.
Thanks to the alumNY, the hackNY Board, friends and family of hackNY, Shy and our fundraising consultant Leigh Arino del la Rubia for your support and contributions and the trust you put in us and hackNY. Looking forward to an amazing 2025!
Message from Shy
Just jumping into Eric’s newsletter to say thank y’all so much for supporting us this year. I mentioned in my original email a few months ago that asking for donations is something I’m deeply uncomfortable with. The support y’all have shown is validation that hackNY matters. Eric and I can take the metric of ongoing support and share it with high dollar donors and foundations. By supporting hackNY you’ve unlocked so many potential future opportunities for us that I can’t wait to work on. Work for hackNY has involved a lot of professional sacrifice from myself and Eric, but with how much y’all have shown up for us I’m energized to keep going.
