[alumNY Newsletter] Fall reuNYon, Graduate School AMA & hire an alumNY
Happy Thursday. I’m here with our monthly community update! Our amazing volunteers are hard at work, recruiting folks for the class of 25. We’re always looking for help to spread the word as our first round of admissions closes on Nov 11th!
We’ve got lots of fun stuff this month so let’s jump straight into it!
reuNYon Nov 19 at Viam HQ
It's the fall. That means it's time for a reuNYon. Doors open at 6:30pm and we'll kick y'all out at 8:30. For remote folks, I'll send out a zoom link so y'all can join. RSVP via Partiful so we can let you in and I know how much catering to get.
Eric, Chris and I are working on getting some really fun speakers that I’m very excited to share with y’all.

Cool stuff from our alumNY
- Gloria h`24 has created a personal website. This just missed the deadline for our last newsletter, so I’m giving it top billing today. Check it out at gloriazhu.net
- Devon h`12 has been playing D&D without me. They’ve shared the best of their printable D&D maps in a git repo so I will forgive them.
- Ray finished his two-year MSc in Urban Studies at the Free University of Brussels. He’s doing a Slack AMA for folks to ask questions.
alumNY organized Events
- Hank is organizing a debrief of the Circuit Breakers, the tech labor organizing conference, on Thu, Nov 7th. If you couldn't go to the conference that was in SF, you can attend this debrief to learn from other attendees and speakers. This also nicely lines up with the NY Times Tech Guild strike on Election Day. This meeting will cover that as well from members of the union.

Work with an alumNY
- Shelly’s h`17 friend just closed a 5M seed round for some IRL roles in SF. DM her in slack if you’re looking for a connection.
- Our reuNYon host Viam is hiring for senior roles. Ping Sean Yu h`21 on slack for a referral.
- Anthropic has opened a new NYC office in Soho. Alexander Bricken h`22 is happy to write referrals for folks who are interested and find a role that seems to be the right fit. Anthropic is hiring mid-level to senior folks and if you've got a physics background that's plus.
That’s it for alumNY updates this month. As always let me know if you have anything you’d like to share with our community.
Best,
Shy
