[hackNY News] 2025 Fellowship Weekly – Jun 23
Time flies – it’s already week 5 of the summer fellowship!
⏪ What happened last week?
Our alumNY Alex Akers (h’13) gave fellows the inside scoop (ok, as “inside” as his NDA allows 😅) on building iOS at Apple. Fellows also went on excursions to the Met Cloisters and Coney Island.

On Saturday, fellows and alumNY trekked through Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan on a pizza tour led by resident pie connoisseurs Doug Randolph and Jacob Aronoff (h’17). Huge shout-out to them for organizing. It was awesome to see so many alumNY join! 🍕

📸 Photo of the Week

Shout-out to Greg Marzano (h’25) for photo of the week, and happy birthday to Impana Chimmalagi! 🎉
Winners of the photo of the week are pulled from the 2025 Fellowship Album and win a silly 3D printed prize from Shy! Submit your photos to the album (including alumNY) to be considered.
⏩ Upcoming events
SnoFox

This week, the fellows hear from Benjamin Rubin, co-founder & CEO of SnoFox Sciences. SnoFox employs detailed thermodynamic simulations and data analysis to help large refrigeration operations lower their environmental impact and increase their performance.
Note: We’re not able to accommodate alumNY at this talk. Thank you for understanding.
Workshop Day

This Saturday, June 28, the fellows are hosting a day of workshops to share their unique knowledge and skills with you all. alumNY will be invited – stay tuned for more details!

Steve Gattuso (h’13) is the latest hackNY'er to get set up with NYC Mesh. (You should check them out for inexpensive, community-driven internet!)
Kevin Liao (h’18) gave a wonderful flute performance that Moody Rahman (h’22) attended.
Greg Marzano (h’25) got to see fireworks up close at Coney Island with other fellows.
Jamie Liao went blueberry picking for the first time, followed by raspberry and lavender picking.
P.S. Harrison Liddiard (h’15) is helping out with the newsletter this summer. Feel free to share feedback on what you want to see here. :)
