[hackNY News] 2025 Fellowship Weekly – Jun 29
Hello hackNY, happy Pride weekend! The fellows are officially in the back half of the fellowship and heading into week 6.
This week, alumNY are invited to join two Speaker Series talks along with a 4th of July hangout. See the Upcoming events section below for details. But first…
⏪ What happened last week?
A lot! Fellows braved the heat wave Tuesday, heading to the Newlab office in Brooklyn Navy Yard for a chat with Benjamin Rubin, CEO and co-founder of SnoFox Sciences.

Fellows enjoyed a roundtable discussion with Ben for a change of pace from the lecture format.

At the dorms, fellows made a cake, put on a workshop to craft punch needle mirrors, and celebrated Ryan Jiang’s birthday.

Over the weekend, some fellows attended Socially Inept’s Tech Roast show and are joining in the NYC Pride March 🏳️🌈 and festivities today.

📸 Photo of the Week

Shout-out to Gabriela Banaag (h’25) for photo of the week, capturing a beautiful sunset as they walked back from Tuesday’s talk in Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Winners of the photo of the week are pulled from the 2025 Fellowship Album and win a silly 3D printed prize from Shy! Submit your photos to the album (including alumNY) to be considered.
